Art Production Experience Reflection Title:Multimedia Collage I can describe the instructional strategies used as motivation for creating my own work of art: We were asked as a class some prompting questions about our beliefs, life and feelings then we created a collages using those questions as prompts. I chose my life as inspiration. So in my first piece you can see a theme of water in the top right corner and the bottom left corner. The top right has some water and it says "separate yourself" with feathers sticking out and I was thinking of a black swan on a lake and it flying away and being free. Below that is a water lily and a turtle. I feel most calm and collective when I am surrounded by water elements. In the bottom left is a underwater snapshot and I feel like the colors and composition of this picture is just beautiful. If I could be a mermaid I would. In the bottom right is how my life was before moving here to Oahu. I have an infatuation with skeletons and it says "the lost princess" because that's how I felt my life was before. I was very selfish and only concerned with my needs and wants. The top left corner has a picture of an old book and it has a person wearing a cross pointing to the bible. This symbolizes my new life accepting Jesus as my lord and savior. the person pointing to the book has an elephant head not only because they are one of my favorite animals but because they are known for being very wise and I feel like I have grown and learned so much in the past year. Below the elephant teacher is a quote that I try to live by "simplicity is the best policy". My second collage was inspired by the book The Rainbow Fish. I can cite a HCPS III in the visual arts and benchmark I feel this lesson meets: FA. 2.1.1: Use the element of space and the principles of repetition and variety, with a variety of art media. Materials used: Paper, magazines, modge podge, tissue paper, glue, aluminum paper, feathers and cotton balls. I can reflect on my personal involvement in the creative process during this art experience and how I would inspire my students to feel positive about this experience: This is a great project and is great for art therapy. This can be a time for reflection and students can use this to do pretty much anything. I can modify this experience to provide art instruction for different grade levels: I would really like to use this project and have students do a compare and contrast about being grateful so one side can be things they are grateful and then the other side can be something they take advantage of. They can also use this to express feelings for a book or to summarize a story creating empathy if they assume the role of a character in a book. I can list different ways to integrate other subject matter into this lesson: Literature- Assume character role in a story/film
